Challenge

MediaWorks’ ten radio brands were spread across separate websites, leading to a fragmented and frustrating user experience. Fans struggled to find their favourite shows or podcasts, while advertisers faced a disjointed ad market. Clunky navigation and the lack of a unified platform limited user engagement and made it difficult to deliver a cohesive experience for both listeners and advertisers.

Approach

To address these issues, we developed Rova—a centralised digital hub that combines live radio, custom playlists, exclusive podcasts, news, videos, and competitions into a user-friendly platform. The platform was designed to deliver a personalised experience, refining recommendations based on user behaviour.

Impact

I designed wireframes to map user journeys, ensuring accessibility and consistency across MediaWorks’ brands. By collaborating with stakeholders, I developed a unified design system and worked closely with development teams to create a responsive, high-performing platform that provides a seamless user experience. Rova transformed how Kiwis access music, podcasts, and live radio, offering a smarter, more engaging experience with tailored content discovery. This innovation has led to increased registrations, repeat visits, and deeper audience insights, solidifying Rova as a valuable platform for both listeners and advertisers.
